The Ministry of Tourism has endorsed the International Maldives Travel Market (IMTM) 2020, for its successive contributions to the recovery of the tourism sector in the Maldives.

The virtual event, to be held by the International Maldives Travel Market on 16th and 17th of November 2020 (updated on 21st October 2020), aims to provide a platform to international buyers, including travel agents and tour operators, to connect and conduct business more conveniently with local accommodation providers located in the Maldives, such as resorts, hotels, and guest houses.

With their objective to Reconnect, Revive and Grow the travel industry, it provides an opportunity for international buyers to connect with the tourism and travel of the Maldives, to improve business and recover from inflictions during these strenuous times, caused by the ongoing pandemic.

The Maldives has been witnessing a steady recovery in the economy, as tourist arrivals continuously increase since the borders reopened on 15 July. The majority of arrivals were from countries such as Russia, Italy, and Germany among many others. The ministry of tourism continues to work diligently, to bring back the Maldives to its full success as an attractive tourist destination with numerous marketing campaigns and promotions for the country. Their end goal is to improve the quality of life of the Maldivian people by optimizing and balancing the economic, environmental, and socio-cultural benefits of tourism.
