Male’, Maldives, 30th April 2024 – Maldivian Aero has launched direct flights between Malé and Colombo, with services operating every Thursday and Saturday.
Passengers can enjoy ticket prices starting at USD 165 for the Colombo route, which includes 30 kilograms of checked baggage and an inflight meal service.
In response to this new service, Nawaloka Hospital in Colombo has introduced special packages for travelers arriving in the city via Maldivian Aero. These packages include complimentary services such as consultations, medical history evaluations, Body Mass Index (BMI) checks, consultations with a dietitian, as well as dental and eye check-ups. Additionally, the hospital is offering a 15 percent discount on out-patient laboratory services and a five percent discount on x-ray services to passengers.
This marks Maldivian Aero’s return to the Sri Lankan market after previously operating flights to Ratmalana International Airport during the administration of former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih in 2022. However, the initial flights on this route were halted a week after their launch due to low demand.
Maldivian Aero plans to serve the Malé-Colombo sector with its Airbus A320 aircraft as part of its fleet expansion. Presently, the airline operates a total of 14 aircraft, including the Airbus A320 and two ATR aircraft, with the rest being Dashes.
