Male’, Maldives, 30 July 2024 – Velassaru Maldives has continued its longstanding tradition of honoring its dedicated employees with a fully-sponsored pilgrimage to Mecca, Saudi Arabia. The annual lucky draw, which has been a hallmark of the resort’s employee recognition program since 2015, rewards long-serving Muslim employees with this once-in-a-lifetime spiritual journey.
The draw took place on July 26, 2024, during Velassaru Maldives’ Annual Recognition Staff Party, which also marked the resort’s 15th anniversary. This year’s winner, Abdulla Arushad, a Boat Captain at the resort, was selected for the pilgrimage, which will allow him to fulfill a lifelong dream of participating in the Hajj.

The Hajj pilgrimage, one of the five pillars of Islam, typically costs around USD 6,000, making Velassaru Maldives’ sponsorship—a comprehensive package covering all travel and spending expenses—a significant and impactful gesture.
