A respected figure in the Maldives’ hospitality landscape, Shumaes brings more than two decades of experience across marketing, communications, public relations, and brand management. His appointment comes at a significant juncture for the two Baa Atoll resorts, both of which are actively strengthening their presence in key global markets while refining their distinctive brand identities.

Shumaes began his career in the creative industry with Think Associates, one of the Maldives’ most established advertising agencies, where he developed expertise in strategic communications, integrated marketing, and brand development. Over the years, he has built an impressive portfolio of leadership roles with internationally recognised hospitality brands and tourism organisations, including Sheraton, Jumeirah, Crossroads Maldives, Visit Maldives, Villa Resorts, and most recently, The St. Regis Maldives.

In his new role, he will oversee public relations, media engagement, marketing communications, and brand partnerships for both .Here Baa Atoll and Finolhu. His responsibilities will also include shaping long-term marketing strategies designed to elevate brand awareness and strengthen engagement with luxury travellers worldwide.
