Male’, Maldives -11th May 2026 – The National Hotels & Guesthouse Association of Maldives (NHGAM) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Visit Maldives Corporation (VMC) to spearhead a series of international roadshows under the “I AM Maldives” campaign. With VMC providing official endorsement and promotional support, the initiative is set to further strengthen the Maldives’ presence across key source markets in Russia, the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), and Central & Eastern Europe (CEE).
The programme will be implemented in two distinct phases. The first, “I AM Maldives – Russia & CIS,” is scheduled from 14th to 18th September 2026, covering Almaty, Moscow, and St. Petersburg. This phase will focus on destination workshops and direct engagement with travel trade professionals. The second phase, “I AM Maldives – Central & Eastern Europe,” will take place from 9th to 13th November 2026, reaching Bulgaria, Hungary, and Slovenia to further expand the Maldives’ footprint and reinforce its positioning as a diverse, year-round destination.
Through NHGAM’s strong operational capacity and established industry networks, the roadshows will be executed with precision across all locations. VMC will complement these efforts by providing destination branding, official endorsement, and curated promotional storytelling, ensuring consistent and impactful market communication.
Each event will present a comprehensive showcase of Maldivian tourism offerings, including luxury resorts, guesthouse experiences, diving adventures, and family-friendly travel options. A key focus will also be placed on sustainability and nature-based tourism, reflecting global demand for more responsible and meaningful travel experiences.
In addition to destination promotion, the roadshows aim to strengthen business-to-business engagement with tour operators, travel agents, and media partners across the target regions, further reinforcing the Maldives’ position as a leading and competitive global destination.
Under the agreement, NHGAM will manage full execution, including logistics, coordination, and financial oversight, while VMC will support with strategic branding and international promotion. Together, the collaboration underscores a shared commitment to expanding market access and driving sustainable growth for the Maldivian tourism industry.
