Male’, Maldives -23rd April 2026 – Atmosphere Core has unveiled its Core Impact Report 2025, offering a detailed look at a year of meaningful progress in its ongoing commitment to responsible hospitality across its Maldivian portfolio. Released in alignment with Earth Day 2026, the report reflects the brand’s continued dedication to embedding sustainability into the heart of its operations, from energy management and waste reduction to marine conservation and community development.
As global tourism faces increasing pressure to demonstrate environmental accountability, and island destinations such as the Maldives remain particularly vulnerable to climate change, the hospitality sector’s role in driving measurable impact has become more significant than ever. Against this backdrop, Atmosphere Core’s latest report underscores a structured, data-led approach to sustainability, focusing on outcomes that are both tangible and scalable.
Over the past year, the company has significantly expanded its renewable energy initiatives, producing 7.9 million kilowatt-hours of solar energy, now accounting for 13% of its total energy consumption. Complementing this shift is a strong focus on circular resource systems, including the transformation of 140 tonnes of organic waste into biogas. Together, these initiatives have helped reduce reliance on diesel by more than 2.1 million litres while preventing over 5,700 tonnes of carbon emissions.
In its ongoing effort to reduce environmental waste, Atmosphere Core has also made notable strides in eliminating single-use plastics across its nine resorts. To date, more than 2.1 million plastic bottles and 1.48 million straws have been removed from circulation, supported by a streamlined sourcing strategy that prioritises efficiency and sustainability across operations.
Marine conservation remains a cornerstone of the company’s environmental work, with over 16,600 coral fragments planted across 360 reef frames to support reef regeneration and protect fragile marine ecosystems.
Beyond environmental initiatives, the Atmosphere Foundation continues to broaden its social impact through 26 active projects focused on education, livelihoods, and community resilience. Its nationwide bamboo plantation programme has already established more than 3,700 plants across 45 locations, reinforcing efforts to strengthen climate resilience while supporting sustainable income opportunities.
Reflecting on the report, Atmosphere Core leadership emphasised that sustainability is not a parallel initiative but a guiding principle shaping every aspect of the business. The organisation continues to move beyond impact reduction toward creating long-term value for both communities and ecosystems.
With its 2025 Core Impact Report, Atmosphere Core reinforces its vision of a hospitality model where guest experiences and environmental responsibility go hand in hand—ensuring that tourism in the Maldives contributes positively to the preservation and future of its natural environment.
